Why you should never pat someone's head here

Treating a local resident like a friendly golden retriever by affectionately patting their head is a massive spiritual catastrophe. In Buddhist traditions, the head is considered the most sacred and spiritually elevated part of the body, where the soul resides. Touching it, even playfully, is immensely disrespectful and an excellent way to alienate absolutely everyone around you.
