When the script for the Friends pilot was making the rounds, both the audience and the cast members—including Lisa Kudrow—assumed Chandler Bing was a closeted gay man. The writers actually debated going in that direction before ultimately deciding to just make him painfully neurotic and heterosexual instead, paving the way for ten seasons of extremely weird masculine insecurities.
