Bank drafts guarantee funds by holding them upfront
A regular check is basically just a polite piece of paper asking a bank to please hand over some cash if it happens to be there. A bank draft, however, physically yanks the funds out of your account the moment it is printed. It is the financial system's way of saying they trust your signature, but they would rather hold your actual capital hostage just to be safe.
