Weight loss does not actually destroy adipocytes, otherwise known as fat cells, but rather merely shrinks them down as the stored triglycerides are burned for energy through exercise and a caloric deficit. Those little biological balloons of regret never actually pack their bags and leave your body, they just deflate and patiently wait around your waistline for you to inevitably cave and eat an entire family-sized pizza by yourself. Science has cruelly dictated that once you create a fat cell, it essentially gains squatter's rights in your anatomy, refusing to be evicted regardless of how many miserable hours you spend on the elliptical machine. All of your exhausting cardio sessions are essentially just torturing these tiny fat storage units into submission, but they are incredibly resilient and always ready to blow back up the second you look at a carbohydrate. It is a lifelong hostage negotiation where your metabolism is the terrorist and you have no actual leverage
