Ronald Wayne co-founded Apple alongside Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak but sold his ten percent stake back to them for just eight hundred dollars barely two weeks after the company was formed in 1976. He apparently worried that any debts the company incurred would fall on him because the other two Steves were essentially broke hippies with nothing to lose. Today, that exact same ten percent stake would be worth somewhere around three hundred billion dollars, making it objectively the worst financial decision ever made by a human being in the history of our species. Wayne claims he has zero regrets about the choice, which is exactly the kind of massive psychological coping mechanism you would need to develop to avoid walking straight into the ocean
