The fake movie trailers that became real films
When Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez released their 2007 double feature 'Grindhouse', they sandwiched fake, hyper-violent parody trailers between the films for aesthetic texture. The overwhelmingly positive audience reaction was so intense that several of these joke trailers, including Machete and Thanksgiving, were eventually funded and turned into highly successful actual feature films.
