Nothing screams aggressive global domination quite like a French arthouse director. Albert Lamorisse, who famously won an Oscar for writing the cute, wholesome short film 'The Red Balloon,' apparently harbored a secret desire for massive geopolitical conflict. In 1957, he created 'La Conquête du Monde' (The Conquest of the World). Parker Brothers eventually bought the rights, stripped the pretentious French name, slapped the word 'RISK' on the box, and allowed dads everywhere to violently occupy Kamchatka.
