Denial-of-service attacks overwhelm servers with garbage

To forcefully crash a website, attackers do not need to intricately hack into the mainframe. They simply program an army of infected devices to violently bombard the server with millions of fake, meaningless requests at the exact same moment. The server panics trying to answer everyone, immediately catches fire, and shuts down.
