American soldier Jack Mullin looted German magnetophon tape recorders after WWII, accidentally revolutionizing Hollywood lazines. Up until then, radio was strictly live. When Mullin showed the stolen Nazi tech to Bing Crosby, the crooner realized he could finally pre-record his radio shows and spend his afternoons playing golf instead of working. Crosby invested heavily in the technology, single-handedly birthing the modern pre-recorded entertainment industry purely out of a desire to avoid his job.
