Before the Winter Games even existed, organizers brilliantly decided that sliding around on frozen water was perfectly acceptable for a summer event. They literally had to drag competitors inside to an artificial ice rink in London during the sweltering heat of the 1908 games, which is both impressive and incredibly stupid.
