A closer look
Direct flights and non-stop flights are completely different things, a semantic trick airlines use to manipulate you into buying tickets with hidden inconveniences. A non-stop flight actually does what it says and flies from point A to point B without landing, whereas a direct flight just means your flight number stays the same, but the plane will absolutely land somewhere else to pick up more souls. You might not even get to leave the aircraft while they refuel, clean the toilets, and board more passengers who will inevitably stare at you while you drool on your neck pillow. It is a masterful piece of marketing deception that makes you think you are saving time, only to trap you on a tarmac in Dallas for two hours while you silently curse the airline industry's loose definition of the word direct
