A closer look
Vampires apparently don't go to Best Buy, and making a mockumentary look authentically pathetic takes an immense amount of work. To ground the supernatural absurdity, the production design team heavily distressed ordinary household items. If a vampire uses a relatively modern vacuum cleaner, the art department physically ages the plastic with chemical washes, grinds dirt into the wiring, and wraps it in decades-old gaffer tape. This subtle worldbuilding technique implies that the immortal creatures haven't fully understood human technology since the 1980s, layering jokes into the background furniture.
