A closer look

People who say I hate drama are often the ones who create it. That phrase is a social shield: a way to look innocent while staying at the center of emotional chaos. When someone loudly rejects drama, they’re really signaling this rule to others: if there is a problem, it is not me. That makes it almost impossible to give them honest feedback, because any complaint becomes proof that you are the dramatic one. Watch how they tell stories. Are they always the misunderstood hero and everyone else the villain, idiot, or narcissist? That pattern is a red flag. Healthy people see their own part in conflicts, even when it hurts their ego. If you notice this dynamic, do two things: document reality for yourself so you do not start doubting your memory, and reduce emotional exposure. You will not win a fair fight with someone who already wrote the script.
