If you look up at the ecliptic, Virgo is an absolute unit of a constellation. It spans 45 degrees of the sky. But because math is hard and symmetry sells, astrologers forcefully shoved it into the same 30-degree box as everything else. They basically gentrified the night sky to make drawing birth charts significantly easier on their brains.
