A closer look
The zodiac's most adventurous sign has a hilariously tragic origin story. The constellation represents Chiron (yes, the same guy from the asteroid), a wise centaur who accidentally got grazed by Hercules' hydra-venom arrow. Because Chiron was immortal, he couldn't die, leaving him in agonizing, eternal pain. Zeus finally took pity on him, let him die, and tossed him into the sky. A truly uplifting mascot for optimism.
