What the heart chakra represents
In several modern chakra teachings, the heart center—often called Anahata—stands for compassion, connection, and emotional balance. Describing it as a source of energy can express how openness or guardedness feels to a person; it does not, by itself, specify a physical force that can be measured or tested.
A bodily signal is not a social shield
The heart does produce electrical activity, which instruments can record, and that activity is associated with faint magnetic signals. Those are ordinary effects of the heart’s rhythm. They do not show that a chakra sends out a field capable of pushing away particular people, toxic or otherwise. A measurable signal and a claimed spiritual effect are different things: the second needs its own evidence and a demonstrated mechanism.
The idea can still carry meaning as a practice of discernment. Someone might use “protecting the heart” to describe noticing discomfort, setting boundaries, or choosing relationships more carefully. Those choices can change who remains close—but through behavior and communication, not a demonstrated electromagnetic barrier.
