On December 31, 2008, Microsoft's answer to the iPod universally committed mass suicide. Every single Zune 30 device on the planet froze at exactly the same time because a driver written by Freescale Semiconductor forgot how leap years worked. The embedded date logic hit day 366 and entered an infinite loop, trapping the processor in an endless cycle of trying to calculate a day that didn't exist in its poor, confused code. Users simply had to let the battery die and wait for January 1st to roll around to fix the bricked tech.
