In 1840, Jakob Lorber was just an average Austrian musician preparing for a gig when a voice originating slightly to the left of his sternum told him to pick up a pen. He spent the next 24 years furiously writing down the "Inner Word," an encyclopedic dictation supposedly straight from God. Forget moral platitudes; this voice was aggressively nerdy. Lorber's tens of thousands of pages describe everything from the atomic structure of the soul to the rings of Saturn and the specific dietary habits of beings living on the Moon. Talk about a micromanager.
