Why a Tiny Tube Runs Out So Fast

A travel-size tube can look deceptively generous because its long, narrow shape exaggerates how much it holds. What matters is the amount of paste inside—and how much comes out each time you brush. Squeezing a little extra onto the brush can use up a small supply surprisingly quickly, especially when the tube serves more than one traveler.

The Last Drop Takes More Work

As the tube empties, toothpaste shifts toward the nozzle while air and folds take up space elsewhere. The tube may still feel as though it contains something, but getting that remainder out takes more pressing and rolling. That final bit can make the supply seem to vanish all at once: a few ordinary squeezes become repeated attempts to coax paste toward the opening.

For a short trip, the practical lesson is to treat a miniature tube as a limited supply, not a scaled-down version of the bathroom tube. A small squeeze and careful rolling from the sealed end make the contents easier to portion—and less likely to leave you searching for one last minty drop.
