Steve Jobs actually purchased the struggling computer graphics division known as Pixar from Star Wars creator George Lucas for a measly five million dollars in nineteen eighty-six, long before they ever thought about producing incredibly emotional animated movies about talking toys. Lucas was desperately seeking cash to heavily fund his messy divorce settlement, completely failing to realize he was casually handing over a revolutionary technology company that would eventually transform into a multi-billion dollar cultural juggernaut. It remains profoundly hilarious that the visionary director responsible for the most profitable sci-fi empire ever created essentially sold the future of modern animation for absolute pennies just so he could afford to legally separate from the woman who edited his space movies
