A closer look

Global debt has ballooned to over 300 trillion dollars, a figure that massively outweighs the total amount of actual, physical money and easily accessible liquid assets that currently exist on planet Earth. The entire global economic system operates on a complex web of promises, credit, and leveraged futures, meaning humanity collectively owes way more money than it has actually managed to print or dig out of the ground. It is an absolutely beautiful realization that the world economy is essentially three toddlers standing in a trench coat, operating a giant global Ponzi scheme where governments and corporations borrow against the unborn future to pay for today's mistakes. If an alien civilization came down and audited our planetary spreadsheet, they would immediately repossess the Earth. We are basically running the planet like a broke college student maxing out seven different credit cards to pay off the minimum balance on an eighth, and just hoping the music never stops
