A closer look

Humorist Will Rogers originally coined the concept of trickle-down economics as a blatant joke during the Great Depression, mocking the idea that giving money to the rich would eventually help the poor. Decades later, politicians completely unironically adopted this satirical punchline as a foundational macroeconomic policy, aggressively cutting taxes for billionaires and massive corporations. We have spent the last forty years waiting for the overflowing wealth of the elite to graciously rain down upon the working class, but apparently, the ultra-rich just bought larger buckets. It is genuinely baffling that millions of struggling voters continue to eagerly support an economic model that was literally designed as a sarcastic insult. You really have to admire the sheer political genius required to convince a minimum-wage worker that a yacht tax break is somehow in their best interest!
