A closer look
Billed as "the most haunted house in England," Borley Rectory was allegedly crawling with phantom nuns, ghostly carriages, and aggressive poltergeists. Famed paranormal investigator Harry Price lived there to document the chaos, essentially creating the modern ghost-hunting template. However, his meticulous scientific method had a few glaring flaws. Years later, his own colleagues revealed that during investigations, Price's pockets were stuffed with pebbles, and he was secretly throwing them down hallways to ensure the "ghost" was active when the press was around. Nothing helps the supernatural along quite like a little manual labor.
