Before we started using it to describe finding ourselves on a month-long backpacking trip, 'journey' came from the Old French word 'journée', meaning a single day's work or travel. Calling a three-week trip a journey is technically a gross exaggeration, but we'll let you have your dramatic Instagram captions.
