Kagemasa Kozuki, Yoshinobu Nakama, and Tatsuo Miyasako took parts of their surnames to form 'Konami' in 1969. It translates roughly to 'small waves', which is a deeply humble origin for a corporation that would eventually become infamous for turning legendary intellectual properties into gambling machines.
