Pokémon catches depend on more than button mashing

Screaming at your screen and aggressively mashing the A button does absolutely nothing to secure your capture. Underneath the hood, the game runs a terrifyingly complex algorithm multiplying the creature's intrinsic species rate against its max health, current health, and status afflictions. Your hopes and dreams are entirely at the mercy of a cold, unfeeling random number generator executing basic algebra.
