The larger island belongs to Russia while the smaller one is a territory of the United States, meaning you can stand on American soil and literally look into tomorrow simply by staring across the icy channel. It is the closest thing to actual time travel that humanity has ever achieved, requiring absolutely zero flux capacitors or plutonium. Sadly, there are no commercial ferries offering scenic trips between yesterday and today, mostly because the geopolitical tension between the two superpowers makes border control a nightmare for anyone just trying to celebrate New Year's Eve twice
