Eccentricity is a requirement for Renaissance painters, but di Cosimo took it strictly to the culinary level. He utterly despised the distraction of cooking and hated the sound of crying babies or church bells. To save time, he would boil fifty eggs completely at once while simultaneously boiling his specialized painting glue. He lived essentially exclusively on these glue-scented eggs while shutting out the outside world.
