A closer look
Grigori Grabovoi, a highly controversial Russian mystic, managed to build a massive, lucrative following by aggressively claiming he could instantly cure terminal diseases and literally resurrect dead bodies using specific sequences of numbers. He charged desperate grieving mothers thousands of dollars to bring back their deceased children, providing them with absolutely nothing but a printed piece of paper containing a completely arbitrary numeric code that they were supposed to magically meditate on. He eventually went to federal prison for fraud, which is incredibly ironic for a guy whose entire mystical brand was allegedly possessing the omnipotent cosmic power to completely rewrite the basic laws of biology and mortality
