In 1712, Sweden completely botched their transition from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian one, skipping leap days irregularly. Realizing their calendar was terribly out of sync with everyone else, they just awkwardly added February thirtieth for a single year to reset things. It is the historical equivalent of shoving your mess into a closet before guests arrive.
