Packing a phone is a deliberate step: it is in your hand, pocket, or bag. The adapter follows a different routine. It stays plugged into a wall outlet while you unplug the cable from the phone and gather your belongings. If the outlet is behind a bed or desk, the small block can disappear from view just when you are checking the room and watching the clock.
A Small Object With No Clear Owner
After checkout, a charger may be found during room cleaning, but a plain adapter can be difficult to match to a particular guest. Unlike a phone or a wallet, it usually carries no obvious personal details. Recovering it may also require someone to notice it, record it, and connect it with a later inquiry. If that chain breaks—or the traveler never asks—the charger is unlikely to make the return trip.
That is how an ordinary oversight becomes a permanent handoff: the traveler leaves without the adapter, and the next person to need one may use it. The most effective final check is not just to look for the phone, but to trace its cable back to the outlet.
