What “Fixed” Means in Astrology

Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius are called Fixed signs because each falls in the middle of a season in the traditional astrological calendar. In astrology, that seasonal position is linked with steadiness: these signs are often described as persistent, loyal, and reluctant to abandon a settled course.

That description is a symbolic interpretation, not a claim that people born under these signs are literally unable to change their minds. The caption’s “physically incapable” phrasing is playful exaggeration. Astrology offers a vocabulary for personality themes; it does not establish that a birth sign determines how someone responds to evidence.

Persistence Can Help—or Hinder

The same trait can look different depending on the situation. Staying with a difficult project, keeping a promise, or supporting someone through a rough patch may be seen as loyalty and resolve. Holding to an opinion after strong new evidence appears may instead look like stubbornness.

That tension is why Fixed signs are often framed as both dependable and resistant to change. The label describes a familiar human tradeoff: commitment can provide stability, but it can also make it harder to reconsider a position. A person’s actual willingness to revise a belief depends on more than an astrological category.
