Suhrawardi was executed for saying God could make a prophet

Hypothetical theological arguments can be incredibly deadly. Suhrawardi, a brilliant 12th-century philosopher of illumination, essentially argued that since the divine is infinitely capable, it could theoretically create another ultimate prophet if it wanted to. The local orthodox authorities found this logical exercise so offensive they immediately had him executed at age thirty-seven.
