Perfectionism is a disease, and the creator of Gran Turismo had it terminal. Kazunori Yamauchi and a tiny team of just fifteen people spent half a decade meticulously modeling cars and physics for the original PlayStation game. Yamauchi later admitted he rarely ever went home during those five years, sleeping under his desk and essentially ceasing to exist as a normal human being. The obsessive work paid off, as it became the best-selling game on the console, but his spine probably never recovered.
