Crows can solve a water displacement puzzle
Aesop's fable about the thirsty bird wasn't just a cute story; it was a peer-reviewed observation. When presented with a tube of water they can't quite reach, crows will intentionally drop heavy stones into it to raise the water level. They understand volume and displacement so well that they consistently outperform five-year-old human children in similar puzzle tests.
