A closer look
The Thematic Apperception Test is the psychological equivalent of asking you to explain a terrible indie film. You are shown ambiguous, melodramatic black-and-white drawings of people and told to invent a story about what’s happening. If you say the woman in the picture is crying over a lost lover, you have unresolved intimacy issues. If you say she's plotting a murder, congratulations, you're an aggressive psychopath. It relies entirely on the premise that whatever bizarre fanfiction you project onto these sad vintage sketches is a flawless window into your subconscious trauma.
