A closer look

Virtual combatants are notoriously terrible at threat assessment. Threat generation algorithms—or "aggro"—run entirely on mathematical values assigned to specific attacks. Because of this rigid priority system, a towering digital dragon will routinely ignore the heavily armed warrior actively stabbing it, choosing instead to chase a minor healer miles away simply because their healing spell generated higher numerical aggro.
