In 1921, René Tampier decided the transition between driving and flying was simply too much of a hassle. He invented the Cyclomer, a bizarre biplane with folding wings that could legally drive through the bustling streets of Paris. Powered by a secondary motor and featuring actual headlights, this hybrid monstrosity allowed you to trundle down a cobblestone avenue, unfold your wings like a giant mechanical cicada, and take off. Sadly, the market for a vehicle that was simultaneously a terrible airplane and an atrocious car never quite materialized.
