Mehran Karimi Nasseri lived in Terminal 1 of Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport from 1988 until 2006 because of a bureaucratic nightmare regarding his refugee papers, and while you complain about a three-hour layover because the Wi-Fi is spotty and the overpriced pretzels are stale, this guy literally spent 18 years treating an airport food court like his living room; he bathed in the public restrooms, befriended the retail workers who probably still didn't give him an employee discount, and eventually became the inspiration for a Tom Hanks movie that totally romanticized the horrifying reality of being completely stateless and trapped in an eternal purgatory of duty-free shops and rolling luggage
