The Bastille key Lafayette sent to Washington

Nothing says 'friendship' quite like sending your buddy a piece of violent revolutionary debris. Shortly after French revolutionaries stormed the Bastille in 1789, Lafayette managed to snag the main cast-iron key. He shipped it across the Atlantic to his former commander George Washington as a token of liberty, and it still casually hangs in the hallway of Mount Vernon today.
