The hovertrain project that ended in tragedy
Jean Bertin dedicated his life to making trains hover, pouring his soul into the jet-powered Aérotrain. But when the French government unceremoniously killed his funding and shifted to the conventional steel-wheel TGV, Bertin was crushed. Within a year of his sci-fi dream being legally murdered by bureaucrats, he developed aggressive cancer and died—literally broken by the death of his beloved hovercraft.
