A closer look

Sweden switched from driving on the left side of the road to the right side on September 3, 1967, a chaotic logistical nightmare forever known as Dagen H. At exactly five in the morning, every single moving vehicle in the country had to come to a complete stop, carefully merge to the opposite side of the road, and then continue on their way. Despite the absolute certainty that this would result in an apocalyptic bloodbath, traffic accidents actually plummeted because everyone was suddenly terrified of dying and decided to drive like a cautious grandmother. Nothing cures reckless driving quite like forcing an entire nation to fundamentally relearn basic spatial awareness overnight!
