Arthur’s Glasses Follow the Shape of His Face
Arthur is drawn with small ears high on the sides of his head, rather than ears positioned where human glasses arms would normally pass. The frames are visible from the front, but their thin side pieces have no clear path to rest over his ears. In the simple, flat views used throughout the show, they appear to run straight into his head.
A Small Shortcut in a Simple Design
That visual oddity is easier to understand as a byproduct of the character’s design than as realistic eyewear. Arthur’s round glasses make his face recognizable, while the series’ clean shapes keep him readable in different poses. Showing the arms bending around his head or carefully hooking over his ears would add detail—and might look awkward against the simplified drawing.
So the glasses work chiefly as a clear symbol on his face, not as a fully modeled object. The result is a tiny mismatch between cartoon design and real-world anatomy: Arthur wears glasses, but the drawing never quite shows what holds them on.
