Instead, the costume department equipped the Dark Lord with a pair of garters and stockings, meaning the most terrifying dark wizard of the age was secretly wearing lingerie during his intense magical duels. It completely ruins the imposing cinematic menace of the character when you realize he is shouting unforgivable curses while hoping his thigh-highs do not unclip in the middle of a graveyard.
