A closer look

Bill Murray operates on a plane of existence the rest of us cannot comprehend. While filming Groundhog Day, he was famously feuding with the studio and refusing to answer their calls. To manage communication, he hired a personal assistant who happened to be deaf. The catch? The assistant didn't speak American Sign Language, only Native American sign language, which neither Murray nor anyone on set understood. He essentially paid a guy just to ensure he could legally ignore his bosses.
