A closer look
Late-night confessions happen for a very specific physiological reason. As you become physically and mentally fatigued, your prefrontal cortex—the part of the brain responsible for impulse control and self-censorship—begins to significantly power down. Maintaining a lie or filtering your thoughts requires an immense amount of cognitive energy that a tired brain simply cannot afford. This is why people are surprisingly blunt, emotionally raw, and prone to oversharing during the late hours of the night.
