Booking a flight to Los Angeles means you are visiting a city whose original colonial name was actually El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles del Río de Porciúncula. This ridiculously long Spanish title translates roughly to the town of our lady the queen of the angels of the river of Porciuncula, which would obviously be an absolute nightmare to try and fit onto a modern luggage tag or a basketball jersey.
