Because actual critical analysis of a product is largely dead. Steam realized users were treating their consumer review sections purely as a stand-up comedy club, posting massive ASCII art and terrible puns instead of useful critiques. Instead of moderating it, the platform just added a 'Hilarious' button to formalize the absolute uselessness of the feedback.
