A Coin Toss That Keeps Booker Fighting

In BioShock Infinite, Elizabeth’s silver-coin toss is a support move, not a weapon. During a firefight, she can throw Booker money that he can spend at vending machines around Columbia. Those machines sell ammunition and other supplies, so a quick catch can help him restock without stopping to search every corner.

The coins are useful because the game’s fights are built around scarce resources. Booker may need to choose what to buy and when, while enemies keep pressing him. Elizabeth’s help eases that pressure—but it does not make supplies free: the money still has to be spent at a machine.

A Companion Who Helps Without Taking Over

Elizabeth is designed to contribute in combat without replacing the player. She can provide useful items, but Booker remains responsible for aiming, moving, and deciding how to use what he receives. The tossed cash is a small handoff that makes her presence matter in the middle of a fight while leaving the central decisions to the player.

That also gives the environment a tactical role. A vending machine becomes more than scenery when a handful of coins can turn it into an ammunition stop. Elizabeth’s toss can therefore change what Booker can do next—but only if he can reach a machine and make the purchase.
