Why Romans thought trousers were barbaric
HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART
If you wore trousers in ancient Rome, you were basically asking to be canceled. Romans viewed pants as the ultimate symbol of uncultured, unmanly foreign barbarians, vastly preferring the breezy freedom of a good toga. It got so hostile that later emperors actually passed strict laws banning pants entirely in the city to protect Roman 'dignity.' Fashion policing is timeless.
